Civility and courteousness existed since the beginning of humanity. With the age of technology ruling so vigorously, we need to reintroduce etiquette, manners, protocol and soft diplomacy, in order to provide a contemporary framework for our everyday communication and interpersonal skills. Etiquette entails politeness and deference between individuals and groups of people. Be it among family members, social and business settings or even during diplomatic encounters.
In international politics , protocol is the etiquette of diplomacy and affairs of state. It may also refer to an international agreement that supplements or amends a treaty. A protocol is a rule which describes how an activity should be performed, especially in the field of diplomacy. Development and Delivery of Diplomatic Communication, Protocol and Etiquette Training
We start with a historical overview about how the terms Protocol and Etiquette spread among people and ancient civilizations and how they have developed over the years. Studies on international relations among ancient nations reveal that there were commonly accepted conventional practices being followed. These relationships were guided by rules, principals and standards that were created as a result of negotiations led by envoys who were sent for the exchange of diplomatic messages. These civilizations practised many different manners of the standards associated with Protocol and Etiquette. Several examples are given below:. Compared to other countries, Europe gave a lot more importance to Protocol and Etiquette rules and was more involved with developing standards to govern their practice while improving and developing them further over time.
Protocol is an important part of diplomatic practice linked with history, royalty, religion, culture and language. Protocol involves etiquette on a local and international scale, and the practice of good manners on a daily basis. It evolved as a result of old traditions, when in the early days of civilization hospitality was extended to an arriving guest. Today it is particularly important because it not only covers the ceremonial rules that are followed during official functions and how to behave on these special occasions, but it also provides a set of established rules of courteousness that are to be respected in society. This course introduces participants to the ceremonial aspect of protocol procedures, behavior of etiquette, rules of courteousness in society, and respect for precedence.

Solo? - Solo. - Echo un poco de Smirnoff?
